Israeli Settlers and Military Committed a Thousand Crimes in a Week, Report Finds
February 10, 2026—The Arab Group, a regional coalition of 22 member states, called on the international community to condemn the Israeli government’s plans to annex the occupied West Bank—a key part of the territory meant for a Palestinian state.
Led by Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s representative to the United Nations, the group of ambassadors from Arabs states said it is building diplomatic support to prompt the UN Security Council—the principal body for resolving international disputes—to act.
“We want the Security Council to shoulder its responsibility and show resolve and determination,” Mansour said. “We stand for defending international law. We stand for justice. We stand for the rights of the Palestinian people. We stand for a two-state solution.”
The Security Council is scheduled to hold a closed meeting on February 12 followed by an official meeting on February 19.
Murder, Arson, and Attacks on Holy Sites
Meanwhile, the Israeli military and and settlers are carrying out scores of attacks and thefts against Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation documented 1,026 instances of crimes in the last week. They include: murder, torching houses and vehicles with fire, stealing agricultural equipment and money, cutting off water and electricity to the humanitarian organization UNRWA, and attacks on holy sites, including daily raids against the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and settler rituals against the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, the West Bank. On Monday, Israel’s security cabinet gave itself more control over the West Bank, making it easier for settlers to illegally occupy and own land in the territory. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen told a local radio station the decisions would mean “de facto sovereignty” by Israel, eliminating the possibility for a Palestinian state.
It is illegal under international law for an occupying power to transfer its citizens into a territory it occupies by force. The decision undermines the Oslo peace accords and the two-state solution advocated by most nations worldwide.
The White House on Monday reiterated President Donald Trump’s earlier statements against annexation.
